PHP Northwest 2012
Over 400 web developers attended the PHP Northwest 2012 conference in Manchester over the weekend including our very own Names.co.uk development team.

On Friday evening, after a busy day here at the office, a team of ten headed to Manchester for the action packed conference. Saturday’s schedule was crammed with talks throughout the day. Speakers covered a variety of subjects such as Developer Experience, API Design and Craft Skills, Mastering PHP Data Structures, Varnish in Action and Event Driven PHP. On Sunday, speakers delved into areas such as Working with ZF2′s Zend_Form, Recognising Smelly Code and much more.  Keynote speakers included Michelangelo van Dam, PHP consultant and Zend Framework expert and Ade Oshineye, Senior Developer Advocate at Google.

Alex Mace, our Application Projects Manager said “The conference was really good, it’s a great tool to find out what’s new to PHP and the industry in general. It keeps us up to date with the latest technology such as Varnish which could really help speed up our systems.”

Whilst away from their computer screens, the team also enjoyed the social get together and a tasty meal after the talks on Saturday night. The PHP Northwest 2012 conference is fast becoming the most talked about annual PHP event in the UK and our team feel it is vital for anybody working in the web services industry to check it out. For more information about the conference and to watch videos of the presentations, visit the PHPNW 2012 website.
