Interested in Web Development, Web Design or associated technologies, and live or work near Worcester? WooWeb could be the community group for you, established and organised by Alex, our very own Application Projects Manager.
Alongside his work, Alex is also a member of PHP West Midlands based in Birmingham, a user group whose aim is to provide support, knowledge sharing and promotion of best practice for PHP developers. Through personal experience Alex recognised the need to create a local platform for those living in and around Worcester, to share ideas and learn through their common interest, the web.
WooWeb had their first meet in the Hive (www.thehiveworcester.org) last week with more events planned for the third Thursday of every month. The Hive is Worcester’s new library, and the first combined public and university library in Europe; thus providing a great central location for the people of the Woo (Worcester).
During their first get-together, the strong turnout didn’t let a ‘no show’ from a Google Go guest speaker ruin their night; a number of topics were discussed including Version Control, Continuous Integration Systems as well as themes for future meets. WooWeb are bidding to attract more local guest speakers (with hope they’ll turn up)!
WooWeb’s next meet is scheduled for the 18th October 2012 at 7.30 pm again at The Hive; with themes planned to be discussed include, .net and the Simple iOS App. If you’re interested in joining the local WooWeb community or simply want some more information visit www.wooweb.org or give them a tweet at @WooWebUK.
We will be giving an update to WooWeb happenings next month.
